We routinely use Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for managing ecological survey data. GIS provides a powerful means of analysing and interpreting multiple geospatial datasets, such as survey data, historic maps, topographic plans and aerial images. GIS database creation forms an integral part of our field survey data collection and central to the generation of accurate and informative mapping used in our reports. We use a wide range of GIS software, including ESRI ArcGIS, GRASS and QGIS and specialise in the spatial analysis and modelling of complex ecological datasets.
