River Condition Assessment

If a development contains a watercourse it may require a River Condition Assessment.

1

Why are River Condition Assessments carried out?

River Condition Assessments are carried out when a site is identified as containing a watercourse during a Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) survey.

These assessments are carried out within the Modular River Physical survey protocol (MoRPh).

2

When do I need to have MoRPh survey?

If your development area is found to contain a watercourse during a BNG assessment then a MoRPh survey is required.

They are carried out to inform the overall condition of a watercourse and provide a baseline prior to a development.

MoRPh surveys must be carried out by an accredited proffesional.
